Brenda Melara is a public relations professional and strategic communicator passionate about powerful messages. With her creative writing and diligent research skills, she helps clients grow their businesses and engage with their audiences by developing and implementing communication strategies that resonate with their target audience.
Brenda joined Portavoce in Spring of 2024 with over three years of experience on agency and in-house teams. She works on business-to-business accounts, promoting robotic, artificial intelligence, and energy-efficient solutions, services and products.
As an Associate at Portavoce, Brenda establishes trusted client partnerships and ensures high-quality work is delivered on time. By developing well-crafted story concepts and implementing tenacious media relations, Brenda positions her clients’ compelling stories in esteemed business-to-business trade media outlets to raise brand and product awareness and motivate action.
Before joining Portavoce, Brenda served agencies with public relations services through her business, Melara PR. Specializing in market research, editorial and marketing content development and business-to-business strategic communication, she assisted several national PR and branding firms in their efforts to present quality campaign deliverables.
Previously, she was the marketing communications coordinator at Ernest Packaging Solutions, where she was responsible for creating content and coordinating internal and external campaigns for the corporate office and 14 company divisions.
She started her professional career working at Global Results Communications, a top global public relations firm. There, she drafted and executed media relations campaigns representing top global business-to-business high tech and healthcare companies, such as Veritone, IntelePeer, Antidote Health, Impulse Space, and Amazon’s New Business Implementation branch (Amazon NBI).
Brenda is a California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) graduate having earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations. During her time at CSULB, Brenda was a member of the Executive Board at the Public Relations Student Society of America, Long Beach (PRSSA LB) for three years. She founded the Long Beach PR Mentorship Program during her last year and served as president.
She has received several awards, including the Distinguished Student Leadership in Public Relations Award and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Scholarship. In 2022, she participated in PRSSA’s National Bateman Case Study Competition representing CSULB, a premier national case study competition for PR students in which they create and implement an entire public relations campaign for a real client in five weeks, after competing with the CSULB team, her campaign placed fourth out of over sixty other campaigns nationwide.
A dedicated community servant, Brenda enjoys volunteering at L.A. County’s Friends of the Library in her free time by coordinating fundraising events for the libraries at the City of Norwalk.
